Oil Change Kit – 2.0L L4 (Audi S3)

The Audi S3’s 2.0T differs from the standard Golf GTI / A3 unit in one key area: it runs significantly higher boost pressure and produces more heat per combustion cycle. The engine code is typically CDLF, CAWB, or related EA888 Gen1/Gen2 variants. The oil requirement is VW 502 00, SAE 5W-40, a full-SAPS, high-HTHS oil that maintains a strong protective film under the thermal load this engine produces.

This is not an engine to run low-SAPS oils in. The S3’s lubrication system runs at higher temperatures than its non-S counterparts, and the oil viscosity needs to hold up across the entire change interval and not just when the engine is cold. Liqui Moly 5W-40 Leichtlauf High Tech has one of the better shear-stability profiles in this class.

Worth noting: if your S3 is showing any sign of oil consumption (which is not uncommon on higher-mileage EA888 Gen1 units), check the PCV system before assuming a seal issue. A clogged or failing PCV is responsible for a significant portion of oil consumption complaints on this platform.
